UCD (Southwell) Ltd is a national shopfitting, manufacturing and logistics contractor with many years experience providing a complete shopfitting service throughout the UK and Ireland.

Shopfitting and Building
Based at our main premises in Southwell we have a team of dedicated contract managers and support staff, some of whom have worked together for over two decades. They run projects from survey, drawing, estimating, planning and scheduling stages through to successful conclusion.
Storage, Distribution, Refurbishment & Minor Works
Our commitment to providing a superior service and focus on organic growth and sustainability have led to the development of in excess of 100,000 sq ft. of storage space at our RAF Newton facility, which we can expand to suit requirements. This is used by several of our clients to store and redistribute equipment from shop refreshes and closures.
We are also able to offer cost effective refurbishment facilities prior to re-distribution, through to a complete installation service.

Manufacture
Our workshops are equipped with a range of modern machinery, including C.N.C. controlled tooling. Our range of manufactured products includes Checkouts, Cash Office Base & Wall Units, Worktops, EPOS Hardware Cabinets and Pharmacy Base & Wall Units.

Joinery and Manufacturing
As well as working with a range of pre-laminated boards and hard surface composite materials we can provide a display system manufacture and installation service.

Storage & Distribution
At UCD (Southwell) Limited, we offer a comprehensive storage and distribution operation.
Our distribution facility boasts in excess of 100,000 sq ft of secure storage space, equipped with modern IT and complete inventory control which is maintained by an ambitious and vibrant facilities management team.
A dedicated telephone order line system offers the facility for clients to place distribution orders that are then processed to immediately impact against stock reports, and finally distributed by our own nationwide fleet of delivery drivers or passed onto our affiliated courier service, ensuring that all deliveries are received exactly when and where they are required.
Further to storage and logistic operations our facility offers a unique recycling solution. Surplus equipment no longer required in high street stores is returned to our facility, where it is repaired or adapted and then returned to the clients inventory and asset register.
Whilst helping to reduce the carbon footprint of our clients through the recycling of their products, we are extremely focused on reducing our own impact on the environment. LPG gas powers all of our forklift trucks and waste is kept to a minimum; with any excess being recycled or reused.

Shop Fitting & Building
Acting as Principal Contractors, we can offer a complete turnkey service controlling Building and Shopfitting trades ranging from decorating to shop fronts, electricians to telecommunications.
We not only work on fit-outs for stores in the retail fashion sector and other markets ranging from pet shops to supermarkets, but on outlets as diverse as restaurants and estate agents and clients ranging from universities to supported housing groups.
We manufacture display equipment for a number of clients and our craftsmen have completed bespoke reception desks for customers ranging from the motor trade to the BBC.
Our core business is Retail Shopfitting and we have a number of major high street retailers on our client list who have found that we are big enough to cope yet small enough to care.
As well as fitting out some of their flagship stores, we are experienced in the Strip Out of retail premises, including the completion of Landlord’s Dilapidation Works.
While we work with some of the UK’s leading retailers, this does not detract from our commitment to the individual. Each year we successfully complete in excess of 100 contracts for multiple outlet and independent retailers in the High Street, Retail Parks and Shopping Centres, varying from a few thousand to a million pounds.

Logistics
The UCD (Southwell) Limited logistics department services the needs of our large contracts department, our in house production facility, the storage and distribution arm, and any other deliveries generated by our customers, and also increasingly for 3rd parties.

We have a solid fleet of liveried MAN 7.5 Tonne lorries and Mercedes Sprinters, medium and long wheel base, backed up when necessary with an 18 tonne LGV. They are driven by our own competent and experienced drivers, who will deliver and collect nationwide, and from abroad when necessary.
Our logistics, like the rest of our company, is specifically client focused. Our strength in the industry lies in our ability to react quickly to changes in the job brief, often enabling multiple vehicles and staff to be rallied despite being given very short or sometimes inconvenient periods of time to work in. We endeavour to meet the set criteria, whatever resources the situation may require.
Metal Fabrications
Our metal fabrication department is able to fabricate & erect staircases, balustrades, structural frames and bespoke furnishings.

In February of 2012, UCD (Southwell) Limited increased its services by creating a metal fabrication and spray shop facility. This in-house service again operates from our Head office on Crew Lane and has a 3m x 10mm CNC Press brake facility and an 8mm guillotine/shear. An investment of 60k was made by the company to provide these services.

Health & Safety
As a construction related company UCD take Health & Safety extremely seriously and are proud of our track-record, so when we were invited to apply for SAFEcontractor accreditation some years ago we were keen to see if we met the scheme’s high standards.
We were one of the few shopfitting companies to gain accreditation with this leading scheme, designed to help industry improve its safety record.
We successfully maintained accreditation from SAFEcontractor, which recognises very high Health & Safety standards among UK contractors, for several years.
Over 6,000 contractors were accredited, although little more than a dozen were from the shopfitting sector.
In 2009 we added, independently, (ie not by mutual recognition through the newly formed Safety Schemes in Procurement Forum), accreditation with the Altius Assured Vendor Scheme, and then CDM Competence accreditation with EuroSafe, to comply with client requirements.
As appropriate, wherever possible our staff and operatives hold CSCS, PASMA, IPAF and First Aid At Work cards and SSSTS, NASSTS, SMSTS and higher qualifications.
